Worldwide Provider of High Quality Online and Distance Learning Education

BACKGROUND AND MISSION

The King’s International University of Science and Technology (KIUST) is a privately funded, independent university offering high quality courses and programs in business, education, psychology, counseling, engineering, theology, information technology, management, marketing, tourism and travel, hospitality and hotel management, natural medicine, health sciences, social sciences, arts, public administration, environmental management, nutrition, beauty therapy and cosmetology, oil and gas etc. The King’s International University of Science and Technology (KIUST) is incorporated and registered by the State of Delaware in the United States of America and specializes in offering high quality courses and programs offshore. KIUST’s branch in the Caribbean (an autonomous entity) is also registered and licensed by the Commonwealth of Dominica. KIUST courses and programs are conducted through Distance Learning/On-line mode of delivery, and also (where appropriate) by face to face 'campus' delivery in Learning Centres located in different parts of the world that are associated with KIUST. The programs and courses offered by this innovative university to people around the world include Certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Associate Bachelor Degrees, Bachelor Degrees, Bachelor Degrees (with Honors), Graduate Diplomas, Master, Doctorate and Post Doctorate Degrees.

KIUST students are not bound by geographical location or time zones and are not required to leave their professional jobs in order to obtain higher education qualifications. The strategic directions of KIUST, which include providing education for sustainable development, making education accessible to people in various parts of the world, providing affordable excellent quality training and advancing a philosophy of life-long learning, are in line with the educational priorities of UNESCO and the aims of the UN DESD.

The King’s International University of Science and Technology also agrees with the aims of the International Associations of Universities (i.e. the UNESCO based worldwide Association of Universities) that “aims at giving expression to the obligation of universities as social institutions to promote, through teaching and research, the principles of freedom and justice, of human dignity and solidarity, and contributes, through international cooperation, to the development of material and moral assistance for the strengthening of higher education generally”.

King’s International University of Science and Technology courses/programs are designed for qualified mature age students who want to advance and enhance their career options as well as for school leavers who have the maturity and qualification to undertake any of the programs. Students at KIUST are provided with sound theoretical and practical knowledge in their areas of studies. Course assessment consists of theoretical assignments, practical projects and examinations. KIUST courses and programs are accredited and recognized by relevant professional bodies and associations.

FACE-TO-FACE ‘CAMPUS’ EXPERIENCE THROUGH KIUST ACCREDITED LEARNING CENTRES

Although students are enrolled with KIUST as Distance Learning/On-line students using a flexible mode of delivery, where appropriate local registered training institutions/universities situated in different parts of the world have been accredited and authorized by KIUST to serve as “Learning Centres” and provide face-to-face classes to students in their countries. Learning Centres use a KIUST approved syllabus to prepare online/distance learning students in their countries for KIUST assignments, projects and examinations. Since KIUST is the examining body, all student assignments, projects and examinations are set, marked and/or moderated by KIUST Professors. The preparation of students for assignments, projects and examinations by the Learning Centre requires providing full-time and/or part-time face-to-face support classes (e.g. lectures, tutorials and seminars) to KIUST online/distance learning students in their respective countries. Although the Learning Centres provide students with a face-to-face ‘campus’ experience, all communications to KIUST from the students and the Learning Centres are required to be done on-line via email or fax.

‘ON-LINE’ EXPERIENCE AND COMMUNICATION

Since KUIST is an innovative university, accredited to offer high quality courses and programs through Distance Learning/On-line mode of delivery, we require prospective and current students as well as the general public to preferably communicate with us on-line via email. However, if one does not have access to email facilities, communication can also be made by postal mail or fax as well as through KIUST Learning Centres (if applicable) in their respective regions/countries. We also require the application form to be completed on-line or sent to KIUST by fax or mail. Assignments are to be submitted by the students on-line and/or submitted to KIUST Learning Centres in their respective regions/countries. Assignments and examinations are marked and/ or moderated by our professors. Enquiries to KIUST are to be sent via email or fax.

Exemptions for Recognition of Past Similar Study

KIUST will not grant any academic Diploma/Degree and/or exemption based on life experience. To complete a KIUST academic Diploma, Degree, Program, Course or Unit, students must successfully pass all assignments, projects and examinations.

KIUST will however, recognize and accept the academic credentials issued by another registered university/college of higher education. Students who wish to obtain exemptions for previous similar learning must submit a copy of the syllabus and the academic transcripts of the similar courses they have done to KIUST’s Registrar for assessment. KIUST’s Registrar and the professor of the course that the student wants exemption from will conduct the assessment and make the final decision. The final decision will be communicated to the applicant on or prior to enrolment. However, irrespective of the number of exemptions/credit transfer you may receive from us, you will still be required to study and pass a substantial number of KIUST courses/units before you can graduate.
