KIUST students are not bound by geographical location or time zones and are not required to leave their professional jobs in order to obtain higher education qualifications. The strategic directions of KIUST, which include providing education for sustainable development, making education accessible to people in various parts of the world, providing affordable excellent quality training and advancing a philosophy of life-long learning, are in line with the educational priorities of UNESCO and the aims of the UN DESD.

The King’s International University of Science and Technology also agrees with the aims of the International Associations of Universities (i.e. the UNESCO based worldwide Association of Universities) that “aims at giving expression to the obligation of universities as social institutions to promote, through teaching and research, the principles of freedom and justice, of human dignity and solidarity, and contributes, through international cooperation, to the development of material and moral assistance for the strengthening of higher education generally”.

KIUST courses and programs are accredited and recognized by relevant professional bodies and associations.

Face-to-face ‘campus’ experience through KIUST accredited learning centres

Although students are enrolled with KIUST as Distance Learning/On-line students using a flexible mode of delivery, where appropriate local registered training institutions/universities situated in different parts of the world have been accredited and authorized by KIUST to serve as “Learning Centres” and provide face-to-face classes to students in their countries. Learning Centres use a KIUST approved syllabus to prepare online/distance learning students in their countries for KIUST assignments, projects and examinations. Since KIUST is the examining body, all student assignments, projects and examinations are set, marked and/or moderated by KIUST Professors. The preparation of students for assignments, projects and examinations by the Learning Centre requires providing full-time and/or part-time face-to-face support classes (e.g. lectures, tutorials and seminars) to KIUST online/distance learning students in their respective countries. Although the Learning Centres provide students with a face-to-face ‘campus’ experience, all communications to KIUST from the students and the Learning Centres are required to be done on-line via email.

On-line’ experience and communication.

Since KUIST is an innovative university, registered to offer high quality courses and programs through Distance Learning/On-line mode of delivery, we require prospective and current students as well as the general public to preferably communicate with us on-line via email. However, if one does not have access to email facilities, communication can also be made through KIUST Learning Centres (if applicable) in their respective regions/countries. We also require the application form to be completed on-line or sent to KIUST by email. Assignments are to be submitted by the students on-line and/or submitted to KIUST Learning Centres in their respective regions/countries. Assignments and examinations are marked and/ or moderated by our professors.

Can KIUST Degrees Be Purchased? Is this a Degree Mill University? NO

The King’s International University of Science and Technology (KIUST) is NOT a Degree Mill University. We do not sell Certificates, Diplomas and/or Degrees. Students must study all prescribed units and courses and must pass assignments and examinations that are set for each unit and course before they can be awarded a KIUST qualification. The graduates of the King’s International University of Science and Technology work very hard to successfully complete their studies for the qualifications they receive.

KIUST will not grant any Certificate, Diploma, Degree and/or exemptions based on life experience. To complete a KIUST Certificate, Diploma and/or Degree, students must successfully pass all assignments, projects and examinations.  KIUST will however, recognize and accept the academic credentials issued by another registered University or College of Higher Education. Students who wish to obtain exemptions for previous similar learning must submit a copy of the syllabus and their Academic Transcripts of the similar courses they have done to KIUST’s Registrar for assessment. KIUST’s Registrar and the Professor of the course that the student wants an exemption from will conduct the assessment and make the final decision. The final decision will be communicated to the applicant prior to enrolment. However, irrespective of the number of exemptions/credit transfers you may receive from us, you will still be required to study and pass a substantial number of KIUST courses/units before you can graduate.

Although students are enrolled with KIUST as Distance Learning/On-line students and use the KIUST syllabus through a flexible mode of delivery, where appropriate, local training organizations/universities or colleges situated in different parts of the world have been appointed and authorized by KIUST to serve as “Learning Centres” and provide face-to-face classes to students in their countries.

To enable KIUST students to receive high quality education, KIUST employs highly qualified lecturers, and professors in different parts of the world. All KIUST academic staff members must hold either a Master Degree and/or a PhD Degree from recognized universities around the world. To add credibility to our courses and programs, academic staff teaching our Undergraduate courses must hold at least a Master Degree, while those teaching our Postgraduate courses must hold a Doctorate Degree.  In addition, most of our academic staff are also either currently teaching or have taught, in other universities prior to working for KIUST.

We would therefore like to re-iterate that the King’s International University of Science and Technology (KIUST) is NOT a Degree Mill University. We do not sell Certificates, Diplomas and/or Degrees. Students must study all prescribed units and courses and must pass substantial assignments as well as examinations before they can be awarded a KIUST qualification.  According to Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), “there are institutions that may not be accredited but are not degree mills. For example, the institution may be seeking accreditation, but the process is not complete. Or a legitimate institution may choose not to be accredited for reasons that do not relate to quality”. KIUST is a fully registered and licensed university that offers high quality, internationally recognized Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses and programs.  KIUST has a government Certificate of Good Standing in the State of Delaware in USA and in the Commonwealth of Dominica where it is registered. KIUST courses and programs are recognized by relevant professional bodies. Information about our accreditation and recognition can be found on the ACCREDITATION AND RECOGNITION page on this website.
